15K

Sarah and I ran a 15K!!!  (9.3 miles)  Holllllla!  This is a picture of us half alive, just after the race.  Seriously, Sarah is amazing.  She keeps wanting me to do these races with her, and I just keep saying yes.  Next weekend when we're out of town for John's wedding, she's doing a 1/2 marathon.  *Conveniently* we'll be out of town. :)  But seriously, there's no way I could do that.  Honestly, I'm not sure how I finished.  After mile 5 or 6, my legs pretty much felt like jello, I could feel the shin splints coming on, and my right foot was throbbing.  But for whatever reason, I kept running.

I told Sarah that basically all I did was set my expectations for myself REALLY low.  I said I wanted to run the first 3 miles without stopping (about a 5K), which I did!  And that I didn't want to be last, and I wasn't!  Although once we finally finished, I was a little concerned that we were last.   Haha, that is my recipe for success, basically just have really low standards.  At least for running...

THANK YOU SARAH MONTGOMERY!  Thank you for giving me an excuse to get in shape, and not be sedentary.  I never thought I could run that far...ever, so thank you for doing it with me!
This was right before the race started.  There was an 80% chance it was supposed to rain on us that morning, but it didn't!  The running Gods were definitely with us!

House drama

A couple of weeks ago we had our friends Will & Jess and Tommy & Megan come over for dinner.  Will and Jess live over an hour away, so we don't see them as much as we would like, but it's always a good time when we get together!  Of course we took them to see our new house, and they had done even updates.
So as you can see, they fixed the fireplace.  I'm sure you all remember how awful/ridiculous it looked before.
Probably the biggest change was the carpet was just put in!

Will chillin' in our newly carpeted formal dining room. :)

Jess shared my enthusiasm for my lovely master closet!
View from the back door/patio entrance into family room.
Then we went back a few days later to see a few more little changes.  Shower doors!
Fireplace/mantle drama, finished!
French doors to study, lookin' good.

As if you haven't already seen enough pictures. :)

1st of many fireplace pictures together.

I really don't know what else they have to do on the inside.  We don't close for another month.  But as some of you know we're having some brick drama.  Yes, they put the wrong brick on our house.  Which may I add, NO ONE BELIEVED ME!  Mostly Sean, but everyone else made me feel like I was crazy/color blind. Yesterday it was confirmed by the VP of Highland/Horizon homes, it is in fact the WRONG BRICK.  And the drama continues....

Happy Birthday Sean (video)!

Happy Birthday Sean!

Sean turned 27 last Sunday!  We had a great day at church, where Aunt Marlys sang him a great primary, "shout hooray!" tribute.  Then Uncle Del and Aunt Marlys so generously had us over for a delicious steak and shrimp dinner.  I tried to upload the video of Aunt Marlys singing to him, but for some reason I can never get the videos to work on blogger, so hopefully the post through youtube will work.  We all tried to make it a fun day for him, and he at least acted like it was a good birthday!  Happy Birthday Sean!

Sean loves Snickers, so I got him a yummy Snickers ice cream cake!

You're never too old for some birthday cake!
The fun Bday group
Make a wish Seanie!
We love him!!!

Besides Sean's multiple golf excursions that he treated himself to, his main birthday present from me was tickets to the Mavs vs. Knicks game the Tuesday after his birthday.
And who better to go to the game with?  Our besties!
So clearly they weren't front row seats...
Lamar Odom decided to play again.  No Kardashians spotted...
Sorry I have a really old crappy camera, but this is Amare Stoudemire signing some autographs.
Cute pic of Ger bear and Sarah
Clearly we got there a little early...
We weren't the only ones there to see Lin-sanity!  Haha, we were definitely in the minority that night.

Before the game started, they did the final ring ceremony for Tyson Chandler, who now plays for the Knicks.  That's right I know something about basketball!  ESPN is on every night at our house, I do pick up something every now and then. :)
This was my first Mav's game, and my third NBA game...and it was pretty sweet.
My little brother Daniel came too.  He and his friend Mikey got tickets last minute, so they weren't in our section, but it was still fun to have them there.
Dan and Mikey.  See!  I'm not the only one he towers over. :)
We may or may not have talked through a majority of the game...
I think I'm smiling so weirdly, because at this point I had a lot of Mountain Dew and cotton candy, maybe that's what is going on with Sean too. :)

The game was supposed to be a surprise, but Sean ended up finding out a few days before.  But it's ok, because I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who cares about the surprise anyways.  Happy 27th Birthday Sean, I hope it was a good one!

Another house update...

They're definitely getting close to finishing everything, so don't worry there won't be too many updates.  Sorry our lives are so boring, we don't have kids to take pictures of...so this is what we have to resort to. :)
This was the first time we went there and the house was locked.  So naturally, we broke in...to our own house.
We have light fixtures!
HAHAHA! So this was their attempt at making a raised hearth.  Sean grew up having a raised hearth on the fireplace that you can sit on, and really wanted one for our house.  They built it 7 BRICKS HIGH.  And not only that, the "arch" you see over the top, is completely off centered and leaning to the right.  As you can see, it looks ridiculous.  Needless to say, after we saw it, we went straight to the office and raised hell.  They ripped the whole thing out this week and are redoing it.
